BGI-Hong Kong was established in 2009 at Tai Po Industrial Estate, invested to introduce high technologies, including over 100 genome sequencing equipment. Coupled with the perfect support from BGI headquarter; the world’s largest genome sequencing center, international data exchanging center, and cloud computing platform was formed. It dedicates itself to the drive of the genetic service-related industries, such as prenatal diagnosis, personal genetic risk assessment, the community response of the pharmaceutical industry, anti-cancer drug screening, and personal health spectrum checks.

As the parent company of BGI-Hong Kong, BGI was founded in Beijing in 1999; with the mission of supporting the development of science and technology, building strong research teams, and promoting the development of commercial scientific services.
