We are looking for a bright and enthusiastic IT person to join us in our Hong Kong office.  Reporting to the APAC Systems Manager (based in Australia) the role is part of ORC’s Global IT team.  This is the main helpdesk technician role and the first point of contact for the APAC region. The role will be required to deal with 80% of the varied tickets single-handedly to help maintain the helpdesk and provide 1st & 2nd line support across all APAC sites.  The role also provides remote support for overseas employees as required.

Primary duties include the support and maintenance of workstations/laptops, printers, mobile devices, phones and client-side support of server applications; and also to monitor and complete helpdesk requests in accordance to company agreed SLA’s.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the IT infrastructure at all locations
  • Provide support for Windows 7 desktop users
  • Provide support for telecommunications systems
  • Provide support for internal IT applications
  • Provide support for VPN & Remote Workers
  • Assist with IT purchasing & liaise with external suppliers
  • Deal with cabling & patching issues
  • Complete daily/weekly/monthly tasks
  • Support wireless infrastructure
  • Manage monitoring & alerting tools
  • Additional tasks include staff training and IT administration duties.



Required Skills, Experience and Competencies

  • Excellent English & Cantonese communication skills, both verbal and written are absolutely vital as will be dealing with staff around the world
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Well organised with positive & enthusiastic attitude
  • Methodical with good problem solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A keen and enthusiastic attitude is crucial, along with the ability to multi-task and learn new skills quickly.
  • Proven technical knowledge of Windows 7
  • Proven technical knowledge of MS Office products
  • Knowledge of Windows 2008/2012 servers
  • Knowledge of Windows Active Directory users & groups
  • Proven technical knowledge of hardware
  • Knowledge of networking basics
  • Knowledge of wireless networks
  • Experience with hardware upgrades
  • Experience with implementing & upgrading 3rd party applications



Minimum Experience & Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in 1st & 2nd line support.
  • Tertiary degree in a related discipline



Scope of the Role

The company operates globally across the US, Europe and Asia Pacific and this role will be required to occasionally work with the Global IT team and business units across the world. Due to the nature of the role there may be occasional meetings or work required out of traditional business hours, but these will be arranged to minimise disruption to personal life.

There may be opportunities for business travel, but this is not a requirement. If travel is agreed on it will be planned well in advance and be flexible around the personal commitments/preferences. It is expected the candidate will attend a week long induction in the regional hub (Melbourne).

This position will have access to sensitive company information and confidential client data, so the highest moral ethics are required. Staff will also be required to pass the highest level of background checks defined by the HR team.
