Company Info

Wu Zhi Qiao (Bridge to China) Charitable Foundation is a charity registered in Hong Kong in 2007. Through encouraging volunteers, especially university student volunteers from Hong Kong and Mainland China, to design and build footbridges and village facilities in remote and rural villages in the Mainland with green concepts, we aspire to:

  • Foster better communication, mutual understanding and integration between Hong Kong and the Mainland
  • Improve lives of underprivileged villages in remote areas of Mainland China
  • Inspire respect, appreciation and preservation of local culture and environment, and promulgate the concept of sustainability
  • Provide university students a real life experience of executing a service project which has direct impact.

The Foundation has two Visions: One is to encourage students and social volunteers to improve the lives of underprivileged villagers in rural areas of China by initiating and implementing sustainable development projects. The other is to provide an opportunity for volunteers and villagers to develop their mutual understanding and improve communication, so to foster friendship and build spiritual bridges. The Mission of the Foundation is to foster better mutual understanding between the young people in Hong Kong and the Mainland for sustainable development in underprivileged areas of China and beyond.

The signature programme of Wu Zhi Qiao was to construct footbridge to solve accessibility and mobility of villagers in remote areas, while the rammed earth building programme was established in 2010 to demonstrate eco-dwelling technique. To response to the development needs of youth and the National Revitalization Strategy for rural villages in China, village enrichment programme and student experiential learning programme were also developed in the recent years. With the support of the stakeholders, mentors, universities, students and social volunteers, Wu Zhi Qiao has completed 53 footbridge construction projects, 3 village demonstration projects, 3 village centres across 8 provinces of China with the partnership of over 20 institutions and participation of more than 5,500 volunteers from Hong Kong, Mainland and overseas. Approximate 79,000 villagers was benefited. Learn more at www.bridgetochina.org.hk.
