Job Summary:

To assist the Chief Financial Officer in actuarial work including but not limited to valuation of insurance liabilities, local regulatory / Group Office reporting and Embedded Value (EV) / Value of New Business (VNB) reporting, and driving other actuarial projects (e.g. Prophet ALS project) as assigned from time to time.

The Job:

• Handle and co-ordinate the Prophet ALS project to support the conversion of asset models, and to provide capacity to move towards a best practice target state that involves dynamic and stochastic projections for Asset Liability Management (ALM) capabilities
• Review and establish control procedures on value reporting and local statutory valuation
• Maintain and propose proper assumptions and methodologies for value reporting and local statutory valuation
• Monitor experience factors, propose proper assumptions and methodologies for valuation, EV and other studies
• Maintain and review changes to actuarial projection models for value reporting and local statutory valuation
• Lead team to prepare and review local solvency and value of new business projection in business plan process
• Manage the value and local reporting team to develop staff, to prioritize work and plan resources with targets and timelines
• Handle and co-ordinate ad-hoc projects and other duties as required

The Person:

• University Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics or Statistics
• 7 - 10 years of related working experience with at least 2 years of experience in managerial role
• Fellow of recognized actuarial organization
• Experience and knowledge in HK Statutory and US GAAP financial reporting, asset/ liability management, capital and value modelling and reporting. Knowledge in ALS modelling is a plus
