PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To be the point person for coordinating the front end Sports development and execution. Bridge and connect with Sports team and production team to ensure smooth pass off and production; and work closely with supplier to bring new idea and most advanced R& D technologies to the Sports team.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Liaise directly with US Sports team on all the new fabric development and be responsible for QA approval for the development adopted by the team.
• Ensure that fabrics developed by the Sports team are consistent with the relevant quality standards, and in aligned with the manufacturers capabilities.
• Ensure developments are production viable, and be able to technically develop and advise fabric/garment vendors to overcome issues.
• Assist in the technical development, pre-production and cataloguing of all fabrics through to bulk production.
• Ensure that fabrics, colors and garment components developments by Sports team are being regularly assessed against the required quality standards. Monitor the bulk fabric quality and troubleshoot when necessary with the fabric supply chain and textile team.
• Provide technical training and support on new technologies of fabric development and performance to the supplier base.
• Take responsibility for all fabric, color issues and garment product originating from the Sports team.
• Work closely with suppliers, i.e. yarn and chemical suppliers etc. Research and study new techniques, methods to continue to present to the Sports team.
• Maintain a technical education of the latest techniques and methods available to the textile industry.
• Be extremely pro-active in seeking solutions to all technical issues and provide solutions.
• Be a positive, supportive partner, consistently demonstrating our shared values and high standards.
• Be open-minded on the innovative idea from all sources and explore opportunities to commercialize the idea to bulk.
• Be creative and innovative to introduce new technology which could upgrade our product or bring newness or special function to our product. 

REQUIREMENTS:

• A technical education in Textile Science to degree level or equivalent.
• At least 5 years practical experience of fabric and color development, including production, with proven techniques of quality assurance within the textile industry.
• Must have garment product development knowledge and good understanding of the Sportsspo business.
• Strong knowledge of latest materials and techniques as well as fabric standards and testing specifications.
• Have experience of working in the R&D area would be an advantage.
• Good communication and networking skill.
• Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese.
