Job Description

A leading Global Insurer with a strong presence in Asia is looking for a Senior Group Accountant for its regional HQ in Hong Kong. This role is the intrinsic link between Asia and Global Head Office and will involve the incumbent in all matters of consolidated financial reporting, financial operations and financial analysis for the region. Reporting directly into the APAC CFO, with a dotted line into the Global Controller, you will be the lead person responsible for the coordination of reporting across different business units, corporate functions and locations in Asia, ensuring a hands-on grasp of different reporting requirements in North and South East Asia.

 

Given the nature of this role it is important that you can hit the ground running. Past experience has shown that a strong potential candidate will have a background rooted in the insurance sector in Asia, with particular exposure to the financial reporting requirements of insurance firms. Candidates working in Big 4 audit firms auditing and advising insurance clients would also be of particular interest.

Job Description:

  • Provides Data Management support to Asian offices
  • Performs month-end financial reporting functions for the business unit
    • preparation of general ledger uploads; reconciling various ledger accounts
    • updating, reconciling and recording financial results
    • analysis, compiling and reporting of data
    • preparation of bank reconciliations
    • reconciliation of various accounts
  • Ensures accurate, reliable and timely financial and management reporting
  • Coordinates issues arisen from Asian offices with respective Corporate function areas
    • Works with other functional and corporate areas to achieve accuracy, efficiency, and effective accounting practices and procedures
    • Addresses financial reporting related questions raised by business unit, area, or function
    • Assist with annual budget and planning, process and analysis from time to time

 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent related work experience within the insurance field
  • Possess 5 – 8 years of accounting or auditing experience
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting/finance theory, application, financial reporting and Statutory and GAAP accounting
  • Excellent knowledge of how general ledger works
  • Good to possess basic Word, intermediate Excel and SQL/Query skillshj
