Job Description

A leading Global Insurer with a strong presence in Asia is looking for an Investment Accountant.

This role is responsible for the international life business and will involve the incumbent in all matters of maintaining accurate accounting, financial reporting and analysis for investment assets. Reporting directly into the Group Reporting Manager, you will be the person responsible for the coordination across different business units including the actuarial and finance team. 

 

Job Description:

  • Perform monthly investment accounting reconciliations, investigation and ensure appropriate controls are in place to produce accurate investment asset information
  • Perform monthly and quarterly analytical review of the investment performance including comparisons and commentary to market movements
  • Develop appropriate expectations of performance to aid in analysis, using an underlying understanding of the balances
  • Coordinate and work closely with the actuarial function to ensure the comprehensiveness and accuracy of unit linked investment assets with reference to the unit liabilities
  • Coordinate with the investment pricing and operation teams, in UK, to investigate and resolve pricing and reconciliation issues as they arise
  • Own and maintain the relevant financial control and risk framework processes and documentation for the investment balances, ensure that all models are working correctly
  • Liaise with other finance teams to ensure issues are properly communicated
  • Prepare/review reporting packs and analysis for group in line with the group timetable during reporting period
  • Develop and review procedures, controls and reporting to improve the quality of reporting, the value add from analysis and reporting and the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the teams work
  • Work with Internal and External auditors to ensure their requirements are met and that the year-end process runs smoothly
  • Interrogation of finance systems and policy systems where appropriate
  • Assist with the relevant developments of ongoing projects and existing processes

 

Job Requirements:

  • Experience of accounting for investments within a life assurance accounting environment
  • Technical knowledge of Life Assurance accounting (IFRS and UKGAAP)
  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified
  • Sound knowledge and experience in regulatory framework, solvency measures and actuarial principles and practises
  • Able to communicate clearly at all levels (both orally and in writing)
