Job Description

Monthly Salary Range: HK$18,945 – HK$31,930

 

Duties: The appointee is mainly responsible for daily system hardware and software maintenance and support services for staff/students, handle daily operations, perform daily system and network security control and monitoring, prepare system and user documentation, conduct user training, and perform other IT related duties as required.

 

Requirements:

- A Bachelor degree in Computer Science/Engineering/Studies, Network Engineering discipline or equivalent with one year relevant working experience in systemadministration and operation;

 

- Rich hands-on experience in Redhat Linux and Microsoft Windows system operation and administration including system backup and recovery, storage management, system security management, system patches management, setting up high availability solution, heterogeneous systems integration, system performance monitoring and tuning etc. In addition, sound skills and solid experience in system problem diagnosis and troubleshooting are vital;

 

- Competent knowledge and skills in System Virtualization technology using VMware ESXi and other popular hypervisors, and Enterprise Cloud Computing model;

 

- Familiar with setup and operation of Blade servers, Fibre Channel SAN storage and switches, Data Centre infrastructure etc.;

 

- Experience in supporting open source software including Apache, Tomcat, MySQL, Samba, OpenLDAP and CAS etc.;

 

- Rich experience in coding system scripting languages such as UNIX shell scripts, Perl, PHP, C, Java, Powershell etc.;

 

- Familiar with installation, configuration, and administration of MS Windows Servers such as Active Directory, Exchange server and OWA, Server Clustering, SQL Server etc.;

 

- Profound knowledge in Internet Networking technology, TCP/IP protocols, LAN/WAN network topology design and deployment, network resiliency capability, bandwidth management and optimization. Concepts of Network Virtualization are also preferred;

 

- Knowledge of computer network and its administration, support and configuration of routers, switches, firewalls, VPN, IDS/IPS, UTM appliances and Wireless LAN equipment etc. Sound skills and experience in network problem diagnosis and troubleshooting;

 

- Holder of CISSP and/or related professional certificates is highly preferred;

 

- Familiarity with higher-education institution’s IT operation and needs is also highly preferred;

 

- Good analytical and problem solving skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and excellence in team playing and work attitude;

 

- Fluency in both written and spoken English and Chinese.

 

Terms of Appointment: Salary placement will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  The contract will normally be for 2 years with the possibility of renewal subject to review.  A contract-end gratuity (taxable) will be payable upon satisfactory completion of the contract.  Medical and dental benefits, annual leave and the use of sports and library facilities will be provided where applicable.  The School provides excellent staff development opportunities.
