Job Description

Job Summary

 

The editor is responsible to write, re-write and edit copy of the texts of the publications of the Society, officiating guests’ speeches for events, press releases, eDMs, messages in Society’s social platforms, translate and proofread subtitles of films.

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee and control the working schedule of publications of the Society;
  2. Write film blurbs (in Chinese) in programme and booking folder of annual HKIFF, year-round programme, and other ancillary programmes organized by the Society;
  3. Copy-editing and proofreading of the texts for the HKIFF publications, including programme and booking folder, main catalogues, and special catalogue published by the Society;
  4. Write and edit guests’ speeches, press releases, eDMs, and messages in Society’s social platform;
  5. Supervise editorial translation and quality control of Chinese subtitling of films
  6. Coordinate and monitor the work progress of freelanced writers and translators on the writing and translation of publications of annual HKIFF;
  7. Supervise temporary editorial staff; and
  8. Perform any other tasks as assigned by the immediate supervisor and/ or management from time to time.

 

 

Requirements:

  • University graduate or equivalent;
  • At least 5 years’ relevant working experience; proven working experience as an editor;
  • Strong writing/editing/proofreading skills and excellent written skills in Chinese;
  • Proficient in PC skills (MS Word, Excel and Access);
  • Prioritizing and multi-tasking; and
  • Required to work overtime and at irregular hours including full-day work on weekends and public holidays during peak season
