Shipping & Logistics Manager

Our client a Logistics company in Hong Kong are looking for a Shipping and Logistics Manager to join their busy team. The successful applicant will provide support from Hong Kong into the Asian markets.
 
Responsibilities;

• Manage the Asian offices Shipping / Logistics needs – (especially Bangladesh and Pakistan locations) mainly working remotely from Hong Kong.
• Liaise with Asian factories and forwarders to ensure on time delivery
• Supervise and monitor the daily operations, including customs declarations and shipping documents
• Overseeing/trouble shooting all logistics activities and operations of the Shipping Department
• Liaise with Germany headquarters /internal departments/factories/logistics providers on logistics related issues
• Data input (create shipment records and upload shipping documents to in-house system)
• Negotiate Freight rates with Forwarders / Shipping Lines
• Communicate for each order pro-actively with the factory and the company's office and subsequently with all Logistics involved parties for the order
• Monitor shipments on route as well as transhipment loading procedures
• Alert delays to nominated parties
• Propose proactive solutions for shipments that are forecasted to be delayed beyond a defined date

Skills Required;

• Setlog systems experience
• Experience in Logistics / Shipping industry within a South Asian environment
• Knowledge of South Asian Ports / Forwarders / Customs Clearing procedures and Ocean routes to Germany
• Ability to negotiate with South Asian forwarders and Port / Customs authorities
• Experience using a Web based Order Follow up / Freight Management system
• Good command of the MS Office programs
• Strong attention to detail
• Bachelor / Master's Degree in Supply Chain Management / Logistics or similar
• Experience in a multi-national company is a plus
• Fluency in verbal and written English is essential, command of Chinese and / or German languages is an advantage
