Job Description

To successfully deliver on the range of needs demanded by our customers, we have a very close operational connection between our Hong Kong and London teams. As we take on more and more technically involved problems, we are now opening a new position for a dedicated team member to join our team as a Technical Sales Analyst to support this critical operation.

With +1 hour flexi-time, based on a 9am-6pm day, you decide your daily routine between 9am-10am ~ 6pm-7pm to best suit yourself and your work; you will be catching up with our London team which will start at around 4-5pm (HKT) depending on UK daylight savings.
 
What we do and what you will be doing at PMD..
 
We focus on parts which have high technical requirements or quality demands. By combining our own engineering capabilities with those of our numerous suppliers and partner factories, we make miniature motors and assemblies that are used in industrial, medical as well as "pro-sumer" grade products. As our sales and marketing is based in our London office, our customers engage with our team in the UK to share their technical difficulties and new opportunities for us to challenge.
 
Our main areas of business are;
  • Detailed quality assurance, testing and documentation to control and reduce supply risk of standardised motors, 
  • Simple customisation and subassemblies volume production by contracting manufacturing support from factories and component suppliers, and
  • Developing our own manufacturing assets for highly complicated or low volume/high cost engineered assemblies
With an engineering team in Hong Kong, and sales in London, we rely on a dedicated Opportunity-based system to coordinate effective communication. This is where you'd be getting involved; you will be picking up the sales discussions and detailed information from our London office as the key point of contact in Hong Kong.
 
Your typical day may include:
  • Sharing details about the sales approach for active opportunities to help guide the supporting engineering activities, 
  • Analysing customer drawings, requirements and technical specifications to capture intent and identify deliverables,
  • Capturing and communicating key details of customer requirements; particularly specs, quality requirements or performance expectations,
  • Consulting London sales engineers to discuss recent developments and new opportunities at the end of the day via Skype, and 
  • Supporting the sales engineers to assess customer objectives to classify opportunities by sales pipeline, maturity and risk
What we're looking for..
 
First and foremost, this is principally a communication role. You must have a native-level of proficiency in English to really understand the nuances of the objectives, risks and concerns that are shared with you as well as having a natural skill at building trusting relationships with your colleagues across the different offices. We're looking for someone who likes to "pick up the phone", but can also effectively and concisely represent requirements and needs in notes and typed messages.
 
You won't be engaging directly with customers; that's the sales team's role. However, skills such as skim-reading to capture key technical info from threads will be particularly useful. A background in technical sales or researchers will be strong contenders to support your work in this role.
 
You will be working in a small team, and so you'll have a lot of freedom to find the best ways to get things done and offer support in different ways. This means that your proactive approach in your efforts directly helps the team and will make a big overall difference. Based primarily in our Shatin office; we'll provide you with a proper workstation and a dual screen PC. You will be working directly alongside our Project Executive, but naturally very closely with our individual Sales team members in London.
 
We will be looking for candidates who have the following qualifications:
  • Native fluency in English, and preferably good command of German or another European language
  • Technical Degree, Business Management or related Disciplines
  • Over 5 years in a professional role, preferably in an international engineering company
  • Robust understanding of engineering principles and basic manufacturing terminology
  • Hong Kong citizen/resident or other immigration status with no restrictions for work in HK preferred, but visa sponsorship may be considered on merit
