Job Description

CONTRACT Strategic Sourcing Executive based in Hong Kong with extensive collaboration with teams based at USA headquarters and contract manufacturers across the globe. High performing executive might be considered and retained as permanent employee when the contract is due.

 

Job Summary

The Strategic Sourcing Executive implements sourcing plans and tactics to effectively manage the assigned projects and associated activities. An important aspect of this role is maximizing supplier performance and supporting the company’s new product development for each project team across various regions.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

  • Implement plans to assure contract manufacturers meet target cost, required quantity, specified quality and delivery dates from all stages of development, namely EVT, DVT and SVT, to pilot and ramp.
  • Partner with various teams to establish forecast estimates, preliminary schedule and target cost for new product. 
  • Handle requests for information, quotations, proposals, bid analysis, negotiations, and contract development for commodity vendors, both off-the-shelf and custom made, as well as complete final assemblies outsourced for contract manufacturing varies among OEM, JDM & ODM.
  • Evaluate current and potential commodity vendors & contract manufacturers in coordination with various functional teams.
  • Make decision over priorities among price/quality/delivery
  • Liaise planning team to place pilot and ramp POs by providing latest product cost.
  • Coordinate spare part ordering with service team for product repair.
  • Lead supplier capacity validation, lead time reduction, long lead time parts procurement plan & safety stock plan for outsourced product contract manufacturing.
  • Prepare logistic plan for outsourced product contract manufacturing and appointed vendors for contract manufacturers.
  • Prepare and execute risk mitigation plan for sole source critical items and long lead time parts.
  • Provide early pricing estimate, keep tracking and reporting changes to product cost throughout the entire product life cycle.
  • Drive the parts and process qualification in coordination with Quality Teams.
  • Place purchase order for prototype/validation, tooling, spot buy and miscellaneous categories driving new production development.
  • Establish strong relationships with key strategic commodity vendors and contract manufacturers.
  • Partner with engineering, product management, materials and quality teams to support new product introductions.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or Engineering required with 5+ years sourcing or project management experience.

  • Excel in communication and negotiation skill
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management experience needed
  • Proficiency in MS office, especially Excel, and MS Project preferred
  • Strong data analytics and presentation skills
  • Procurement experience using ERP system needed
  • Expedite capabilities/sense of urgency
  • Ability to work at a cohesive team across the globe
  • Willing to attend conference calls outside normal working hours to accommodate time zone differences for other teams
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese, including Mandarin
  • VMI knowledge
  • Willing to conduct business travels include but not limited to South China regions
