Job Description

Summary

The Business Development Manager is responsible for the business growth and maintenance, profit generation, client retention, and client-centric excellence of the Business for Contract Logistics particularly for Hong Kong and South China Region.

 

Job Responsibilities:

You will need to know what information to ask for to achieve the designed target. You also be able to obtain sufficient and accurate information in order to build solutions and make meaningful assumptions in the absence of key data while managing a sales pipeline. You will also be required to analyze the client’s current operation; gaps; needs and value-added opportunities.

 

  • PROPOSAL: Ability to write up the technical solution aspects of the proposal and support overall proposal presentation.
  • SALES PIPELINE / TARGET: Build and manage the robust sales pipelines that are both credible and transparent; meet the required sales targets.
  • PRESENTATION: Present solution in front of executive management teams in a professional and competent manner.
  • BD vs SOLUTION SPLIT: 70% BD and 30% Solutions (i.e. this person should be able to compile their own solution and price accordingly.)
  • SOLUTION DESIGN: Given the data analysis, the ability to work out space, MHE, WMS, manning and other requirements.
  • SOLUTION COSTING: Given the solution design, the ability of costing using an array of techniques (Cost plus, Fixed / Variable, Activity Based).
  • IMPLEMENTATION: Oversee handover from Sales to Implementation through AQP session and kick start project team.
  • KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT: Document, reuse, distribute, share and enable use of technical documents, case studies, areas of expertise (i.e. packaging) technical brochures.
  • CROSS FUNCTIONAL SUPPORT: Ability to support internal cross divisional solutions / teams in end to end solutions.

 

Job Requirements:

 

  • Good presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to articulate clients’ exact requirements and needs and line them up with internal operation team
  • Candidates must be willing to travel within Hong Kong and South China Region
  • Knowledge of RFQ and Tender procedures
  • Proposal writing skills and knowledge of warehousing, China customs and distribution (both operational and strategic)
  • Working knowledge of various costing methods and cost drivers (Fixed / Variable /Activity)
  • Experience in contract review and negotiation, awareness on commercial risk and terms
  • Ability to build up traceable and self- audit process with solution assumptions and workings
  • Command of proficient Cantonese, English and Mandarin
  • Computer Literacy of Excel / Power Point / Word / Visio / MS Project / AutoCAD

 

 

Education and/or Experience

 

  • Degree or above with major in Supply Chain Management or Industrial Engineering preferable
  • 3 – 5 years business development / sales experience for Solutions & Contract Logistics; candidates with hand-on Contract Logistics Operation experience preferred
