Job Description:

The HKAOA seeks to hire a full or part-time In-House Legal Counsel on a permanent basis to assist us in the our duty of fair representation to our pilots. We offer flexible working hours, subject to project demands and General Committee needs. Competitive salary and benefits are on offer.

Candidates must have fluency in English, and be qualified in Hong Kong or a similar jurisdiction. A background in Employment Law or related labour legislation is preferred.

Activities include:

• Providing legal advice for Members;

• Acting as counsel for Members in appropriate cases, including internal disciplinary and grievance proceedings;

• Providing case management and coordination with external law firms, consistent with HKAOA Legal Subcommittee and General Committee strategy;
  
  

• Drafting legal correspondence on behalf of the HKAOA;
  
  

• Analysing and summarising depositions and/or interrogatories;
  
  

• Performing legal research and draft research memos;
  
  

• Drafting internal procedural Motions and routine briefs, and assisting in maintaining staff contracts and contract related document;
  
  

• Assisting and supporting the HKAOA Communications Committee;
  
  

• Ensuring internal rules and policies are consistent with best practices.

Requirements:

• Holder of a Law Degree - preferably in employment law;

• 3 or more years’ relative experience;

• Knowledge of HK Employment Ordinance or similar foreign jurisdiction labour legislation, court procedures, precedents and government regulations;

• Hardworking, responsible, and have obtained strong legal sense;

• Excellent command of written and spoken English;.

• Good working attitude and ability to work in challenging and demanding environment and under tight deadlines.

Through constructive engagement, the HKAOA represents the interests of its pilot to deliver beneficial agreements on issues of importance to all Cathay Pacific Pilots.

The HKAOA governed by a Chairman and General Committee duly elected by the general Membership, in accordance with the HK Trade Union Ordinance.
