Union International Securities delivers global coverage and expert institutional brokerage and advisory services to emerging and established hedge funds, alternative investment managers, professional traders and proprietary trading firms.

 Reporting directly to the CEO, this role is fundamental in the continued growth of the organization.  It is therefore essential that the IT Director has a track record of building and leading exceptional engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for leading a team to build market data and order execution connectivity to electronic trading venues around the world. 

• Experience in developing client/server applications.

• Co-ordinate system development, implementation, maintenance and testing.

• Work with traders, exchange staff and compliance officers to gather feature requirements and implement a normalized interface that allows our strategies to access the markets across several asset classes (equity, bonds, currencies, and commodities).

• Knowledge of FIX/ITCH/OUCH and hands on experience of building applications that use it such as trading/market data gateway.

• Software development in C++ in the context of high performance (low-latency, high-throughput) real-time computing.

  • Familiarity with STL and C++11 language extensions, Boost

  • Network programming (sockets, TCP/UDP/Multicast protocols)

  • Multi-threading, concurrent programming

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems/Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science or related field.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in developing software in C and C++.

• A good knowledge of the Linux operating system (system calls, multi-threading, IPC, sockets) and Networks (Routing, Wireless, VPN, Hardware (e.g., routers, switches, etc.)

• Experience in troubleshooting and resolving complex technical problems.

• Experience of programming techniques used in HFT systems such as lock-less queues, circular buffer.

• Experience of an industry strength messaging architecture such as Solace/29 West.

• A good understanding of efficient in-memory data management and associated data structures and techniques

• Critical path analysis, performance optimization and hardware acceleration.
