Support the overall strategic raw material planning and leveraging function.  You'll work with a wide range of product development and sourcing team members, as well as overseas offices to turn ideas into great merchandise.

• Influence Target’s approach to managing key raw materials, including building a supplier matrix that satisfies needed capability and capacity requirements.
• Identify and document the raw material supply chains of various categories across Target’s owned brand product assortments to increase supply chain transparency and support sourcing strategies.
• Partner with Minneapolis based Sr. Raw Material Manager and cross-functional team to deliver high-quality, trend-right merchandise to our stores at a great value for our guests
• Work with leaders in Global Sourcing and Raw Material Teams to develop, train, and coach strategic raw material partners who have a strong alliance with the product vendors.
• Develop or improve processes and procedures and provide technology recommendations to optimize sourcing initiatives.
• Utilize negotiating skills and raw material costing expertise to ensure quality/cost, and deliver maximum bottom-line impact
• Drive sourcing strategy to support strategic opportunities, global balance and help Target achieve our financial plans
• Drive for speed in reduction of lead times and supply chain in order to help Target

Requirements

• Degree holder in merchandising or related discipline is preferred, with 7 years of sourcing, merchandising, and/or retail experience
• Experienced in product development and/or raw material sourcing
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong aptitude to think strategically and conceptually
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
• Strong financial and quantitative analysis skills
• Comfortable with ambiguity
• Collaborative focus and ability to work successfully across functional areas
• Experience working with or for International Brands and Retailers Preferred
• Ability to travel internationally as needed – up to 30% of time
