Job Description

Our client, is a market-leading, award-winning, bank-beating, rapidly growing, fun-loving international payments company and we are looking for an AML Compliance Manager based in Hong Kong to join our Asia Compliance team. 

Overview:

 

 

The AML Compliance Manager - Asia is responsible for providing strategic AML support to the Regional Compliance Officer, Asia, ensuring that a robust and comprehensive AML program is maintained for our business in the Asia Pacific region. This is a highly rewarding position for the right candidate and an excellent career opportunity.
 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Responsible for providing AML support and maintaining the AML program for Hong Kong, Singapore, and the Asia Pacific region
  • Keeping abreast of changes in AML and Sanction related regulations, recommending changes to internal policies and procedures and controls where necessary
  • Ensuring all AML policies and guidelines are in compliance with the relevant regulations, guidelines and notices issued by the relevant regulators and authorities
  • Signing off on high risk accounts and other compliance issues arising from client onboarding, payment processing, etc.
  • Acting as the subject matter expert for AML related activities, e.g. providing AML advice on new business initiatives and conducting due diligence reviews on new partners and service providers
  • Communicating to the Company all relevant information related to AML laws and changes in policies; interacting with the Group Compliance team to align work practices
  • Leading the Compliance Operations team in Asia to handle day-to-day queries and ambiguity, providing guidance to front office teams if necessary
  • Managing the transaction monitoring program, ensuring the team is timely investigating/resolving/escalating any suspicious activities
  • Conducting regular quality assurance reviews on the AML program
  • Reporting suspicious transactions to relevant authorities as appropriate
  • Participating in process improvement, identifying and recommending actions to improve internal controls
  • Reviewing and updating the automated screening criteria and working with the IT and project teams to implement changes if necessary
  • Preparing regular reports to the Regional Compliance Officer and the Global Compliance Officer (based in UK)
  • Managing the AML training program – e.g. delivering AML training, updating training materials and tests, keeping training records
  • Ensuring compliance with OFAC sanctions.
  • Assisting the Regional Compliance Officer with investigations as needed
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned

 

 

Key competencies:

 

  • At least 5 years of AML experience with financial institution(s) in the Asia Pacific region
  • Experience in payments, FX, or ecommerce industry is a plus
  • CAMS certification preferred
  • A strong and proven knowledge of the relevant law, regulations, and guidance of regulatory bodies in the Asia Pacific Region
  • Have excellent communication, organizational and follow up skills
  • Be comfortable working in a high-volume processing and fast-paced environment
  • Show strong attention to detail and a positive attitude
  • Be fluent in English and Chinese with strong verbal, written and presentation skills
