General Manager, CHINA – Travel Agency (Beijing based)

 

Our client company belongs to a large Asia based Tourism Group with some 10 offices and sites in the Asia Pacific. A division of a large conglomerate in Hong Kong and this Travel Agency in China’s is head quartered in Beijing.

 

Position Overview: China Region

 

Responsible for the development, execution and P&L responsibility for the management of the overall sales strategy (including agents, E-commerce and direct sales) of the region vis a vis the overall target of the Company.

 

To be a leader in spearheading cooperation with other regions and departments to meet targets and deliver results/expectations from the CEO and shareholders.

 

Standard measurements will focus on actual sales, profitability, and growth percentage within the business unit.  In addition, developing and maintaining a strong pipeline of new customers will be a key indicator of future success expectations

 

Responsibilities:

 

ž   Overall in-charge of all sales activities, departments and personnel involved in the Sales & Operations of the region;

ž   Analyze sales statistics to determine business growth potential;

ž   Develop and implement an effective strategic sales plan;     

ž   Develop new products and new destinations to sell to China Tourism Outbound market

ž   Establishes performance goals for regional departments and employees, and monitors performance on a continual basis;

ž   Develops and/or maintains and improves business relations with all customers of the region and the Company;

ž   Network expansion. Seeks out & targets new customers and new sales opportunities, initiates action plan to approach and secure new business for the region/Company;

ž   Negotiate agreements and competitive rates with suppliers and customers;

ž   Responsible for driving revenue and use learning's from that experience to refine sales processes and to build an appropriate team.

ž   Monitor, analyze sales and market trends (including Overall China tourism, Regional tourism patterns, competitor analysis, destination management)

ž   Collaborate closely with the Product Development, Marketing and Operations teams on developing new products and/or services for our clients;

ž   Exercise control over overheads and operating expenses

ž   Update the company on changing trends in the market and that of the competitors so the Company can make and adjust plans accordingly;

ž   Utilize and/or improve existing account management processess and reporting systems;

ž   Responsible for management, mentoring and training sales and operations team;

ž   Building company culture to enhance team cohesion.

Other Responsibilities:          

 

ž   Providing rational suggestions and opinions in establishing any policies

ž   Any other job assignment appointed by the CEO and/or shareholders

 

Position Requirements:

 

ž   Extensive knowledge in the tourism industry especially in China and Regional Outbound tourism and land operations;

ž   Extensive experience in developing TOURISM PRODUCTS

ž   Abundant experience in running and managing sales team;

ž   Excellent Managerial and Organizational skills

ž   Good communication and interpersonal skills and coordination;

ž   Can adapt to constant business travels and resilience to cope with pressure at peak times.

ž   High level of responsibility and professionalism

 

Job Qualifications:

 

ž   College or above, major in Tourism/Marketing and/or Management;

ž   Minimum of five years’ experience in managing regional outbound tourism operations;

ž   Strong TOURISM PRODUCT experience – PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT and PRODUCT MARKETING

ž   Good at using office software;      

ž   Good English both in writing and oral.

 

Authority:

Position reports directly to Country Manager, Greater China.
