Our client is a large enterprise organization and are recruiting for a UNIX Engineer to join the infrastructure team. The Candidate should have solid experience in infrastructure work and be a fast learner and a self-motivator with good communication skills written and verbal. Besides participating into projects, the candidate will perform day-to-day technical administration activities and touches on various technologies, like server virtualisation and Linux.

Job responsibility:

The Candidate will be responsible for helping to build and then operate a major enterprise Data Centre and will be responsible for building, configuring and supporting Unix (Linux) Servers.

• implementing validation and verification practices in an UNIX test environment
• solving real-time issues with the assistance of co-workers and engineers
• delivering technical services to the service level required by the company
• performing configuration, installation, migration, maintenance, administration and tuning
• troubleshooting the server infrastructure
• configuring various software and hardware for UNIX initiatives support
• performing patch management, upgrades and installations
• handling technical escalation from clients
• working on technology and process improvement for the benefit of the team
• efficiently providing proactive support through change management and capacity planning and
• documenting procedures and processes related to systems administration.

Role Requirements:

•          University degree in Computer Science, or equivalent
•          5+ years hands on experience with UNIX ( SUSE, Red-Hat, Linux)
•          The candidate would have to know how to create scripting or software languages, such as Shell, Perl or C and have proficiency in the application development of UNIX.
•          Good understanding and working knowledge in SUSE Linux, including setting up cluster.
•          Trouble shooting knowledge on UNIX
•          Excellent communication skills
•          Excellent interpersonal skills
