Job Description
Scope of responsibility
Engineering assignments involve working independently and/or leading small projects with some review. The work requires originality or ingenuity in solving problems using the application of standard engineering principles.
Job Description:
- Support new development projects from conception to implementation.
- Working with Design Consultants and interpreting conceptual material to develop innovative, well-engineered production solutions.
- Develop parts and products to meet the appropriate International Ergonomic and Safety Standards, and Herman Miller’s internal performance requirements
- Develop engineering specifications and documentation that clearly define product criteria, design intent, and performance requirements
- Ensure that all documentation is prepared and supplied with all drawing changes in accordance with the Engineering Change Order (ECO) procedure.
- Building relationships with all the operational teams to continually refine and improve the process of reducing time-to-market opportunities.
- Commissioning of samples or prototype spend associated with assigned projects
- Working with internal departments and outside Consultants on the resolution of engineering issues.
- Working with vendors in development of production parts
- Awareness of cost implications of part production methods, considering the broader picture of target overall product cost.
- Provide project activity direction to project support team (GBS, Test Engineer)
- Clear problem solving - identify problem, identify solution, implement solution, evaluate solution
- Working location: Wong Chuk Hang
- Willing to travel
Education and experience requirements:
- Degree in mechanical engineering or product design with engineering content
- 3 – 6 years experience in office furniture, home appliance, mobile device or lighting industry
- Proficiency in ProE and CAD software
- Fluent in English and Mandarin
