Summary of the Position

You will oversee the development of Ampd Energy's high-voltage battery energy storage module. In particular, you will be focused on initiating the project and ensuring coordination between the Company's control, electrical and mechanical teams to ensure the targets of the project are delivered on time and at quality levels expected by the Company's management. Prior working knowledge of lithium-ion batteries is not necessary, but you will be expected to acquire this knowledge quickly and independently.

The position also requires the ability to communicate clearly, concisely and candidly with other team members in spoken and written English and in spoken Cantonese. You are expected to be self-motivated, reliable, thorough, intellectually curious and excited about how your work contributes to the development of products with the potential to dramatically reshape global energy infrastructure dynamics. 

Key Qualifications

• Degree in Electrochemistry, Electrochemical Engineering, Electronics and/or Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Physics or a related field;
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in a product development, R&D, manufacturing or related field.

Skills and Knowledge

• Proven track record of drafting, submitting and successfully obtaining grant funding from funding bodies;
• High level of proficiency in written and spoken English;
• Excellent track record of project management skills such as developing clear, granular tracking metrics, monitoring progress and following up with development teams, ultimately resulting in consistent delivery of assignments and projects on time, on budget and according or exceeding specifications;
• Savvy with numbers - able to develop plans and budgets in lieu of incomplete information - and with strong organisation skills to track time, cost and quality of deliverables against milestones;
• Experience designing and executing experiments, with a proven ability to operate test equipment, interpret test data, validate results and document findings in clear, well-written and concise reports;
• Excellent technical computer skills with software tools such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint (or similar);
• A keen problem solver: finds and resolves issues before they become terminal, self-starter, overcomes obstacles to achieve results.

Specific duties may include:

• Draft, review, manage and follow through with applications for project grants with funding bodies;
• Prepare and promote equipment tenders, liaise with vendors to clarify tender proposals; install, calibrate, diagnose and resolve issues with materials, equipment and tooling in conjunction with the Company's electrical/mechanical teams;
• Collaborate with the Company's R&D engineers, project partners and vendors to source components; develop prototypes, new components, tooling, fixtures and jigs; execute tests for certification and approval; manage low-volume production trials, with the aim of ensuring a mass-manufacturable product is ready by the project completion date;
• Prepare, submit and present regular reports on the progress of both sub-projects and the overall project, compare against external milestones and internal targets.
