Purpose and Objective of Position
Reporting to the Business Development Manager, the Research Specialist’s main objective is to ensure that the team has access to high quality market intelligence in a timely manner.
The Research Specialist is primarily responsible for:
- Perform financial and quantitative analysis of opportunities (ability to perform financial modeling, valuation analysis and scenario simulations is a plus)
- Sourcing, investigating, and developing strong market intelligence available to the GBD team as well as other DFS departments
- Assist in analysis and delivery of high quality reports; manage databases to track opportunities
- Assisting Project Manager in producing project deliverables on time and in compliance with DFS’ and GBD’s guidelines
- Support team objectives as needed
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

Work Experience |
2+ years of professional experience, preferably in an international environment |
Critical knowledge & Skills, including software applications, languages etc. |

Working Conditions/Environment
The position is part of a small multifunctional team working at the core of all global business development activities of DFS Group including sourcing new business opportunities, industry and competition monitoring, market entry strategy, M&A, lobbying, and in-house consulting for other teams and senior management.
GBD is a fast pace, multi-project environment where flexibility is required as priorities often change due to external considerations.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Source:
- Identify external and internal, formal and informal sources of information for global development
- Develop methodical approach to capturing and storing intelligence for further use
- Participate in the organization of internal intelligence gathering activities with DFS Divisions
- Build on-going intelligence on competitive environment
Analyze:
- Assist in analysis of market information, including but not limited to: political, economic, social, demographic, geographic, competitive landscape awareness, market trends, strategy development and implementation, consumer and brand awareness
- Where required use appropriate resource to analyze/validate data
- Maintain regular contact with Managers, to ensure full awareness on key issues, and to identify information needed to achieve project objectives
Apply:
- Contribute, present, and articulate research findings and awareness to the team
Participate in project development:
- Ensure that all market information knowledge base is pro-actively used in any business planning process
- Update market information on a regular basis
