Analyst - MDSL

MDSL provides market leading financial market data and telecom expense management solutions to leading banks and multinational companies.

We are looking for an Analyst to join our team in Hong Kong. This is an entry level role that will suit new graduates and candidates with up to three years of relevant experience, however we will consider more experienced candidates. The main focus of this role will be on telecoms, however we encourage cross training.

The Analyst will be responsible day to day relationships with clients, holding regular calls with the client discussing our services and championing the client requirements within MDSL. The Analyst will become a subject matter expert on the clients’ profile of requirements and their business. They will perform some data analysis and update, and prepare appropriate reports. The Analyst will always be looking at areas to improve the processes used by MDSL and the client, including promoting the latest software versions and assisting in testing.

The Analyst will be confident communicating face to face, verbally and via email with the client. Strong Excel skills are required as well as an interest in telecoms and technology. Candidates should have a willingness to immerse themselves in client data, assisting in data entry and analysis, and producing relevant reports. Successful candidates will have opportunities to assist with future project implementation.

The activities may include some or all of the following:

 

Keep clients happy

  • Identify key areas of focus for client, and put in place monitoring to ensure these are exceeded
  • Understand client requirements and work personally and with internal teams are meeting these requirements
  • Ensure good communication between client and internal team members, for example regarding service level, new processes, or new system functionality

 

Assist operations

  • Produce relevant reporting, process change requests, and analyse data for clients
  • Respond to client queries and support requests reliably, quickly and accurately
  • Identify any potential problem areas (e.g. overdue billing, unusual costs) and make sure they are resolved
  • Scanning of paper documents received and distributing to the team
  • Track and resolve disputes with vendors, keeping internal teams and internally

 

Project implementations

  • Become a subject matter expert in the assigned customer’s profile of telecoms services with a specific focus on their business
  • Contribute to and participate in regular service review meetings or conference calls chaired by Customer 
  • Plan, schedule and action required work to implement new customers
  • Work with development teams as appropriate if new functionality is required, co-ordinate software updates
  • Work with regional client and vendor offices to collect relevant telecom inventory, contractual, and invoicing information
  • Assist Customer in User Acceptance Testing

 

Ideal candidate

The ideal candidate should have the following skills and attributes:

  • Bachelor degree or above
  • Experience and interest in data analysis, accounting, finance, software business and telecoms. Excel skills are essential and experience with database queries using SQL will be highly regarded.
  • Fluent English and Cantonese: good communication skills are essential as you will be working with customers in Hong Kong and regionally and internal MDSL teams in Europe and US as well
  • Friendly, professional and outgoing, confident in working with clients and internal staff
  • Organised and with good attention to detail, independent and resourceful, self-starter and quick learner 

Additional languages will be looked on favourably, as will specific experience in telecoms billing and contract management.

As this is a telecoms-focused role, market data knowledge (e.g. familiarity with financial markets and major market data vendors such as Bloomberg and Thomson Reuters) is not initially required for this specific role, however it will be looked on favourably.
