General Job Description

The position is for an experienced Storage Administrator to work within the Global Storage Team, focused on providing Operational support for EMC VMAX Storage frames and Cisco SAN switches.
     
The successful candidate needs to be self motivated, a good team player, willing and able to turn their hand to almost any task performed by the team.
     
The candidate should be responsible for providing Enterprise SAN Storage related services.

• At least 4 years of relevant experience as storage administrator administering EMC DMX or VMAX storage frames and CISCO MDS or Brocade SAN Switches
• Candidate should have an educational qualification of diploma / graduate or higher.
• Perform monitoring of SAN and Storage array system.
• General proactive administration to help ensure the integrity, stability and performance of the systems.
• Carry out storage array system upgrades according to bank standards required for application operation, hardware support or security enhancement.
• Carry out data migrations to retire legacy storage platforms
• Ensuring that supported production installations of the system and additional components are compliant with the banks information security standards.
• SAN performance monitoring and tuning where required.
• Carry out break-fix activity to upkeep the storage environment
• Raise incidents, change tickets and represent on Incident/Problem/Change Management meetings
• Work with Application developers/DBA/Unix/ Wintel SA's to provide solutions to their data storage needs and performance related issues
• Participate in DR/BCP drills.
• Able to work on remote storage environments with virtual storage teams across APAC/US/UK/EMEA.
• ITIL v3 certification would be an added advantage.
• Should possess very good written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to work on weekends and out of hours

SAN Hardware

• Perform monitoring of SAN hardware.
• Perform firmware upgrades for related hardware.
• Review and implement defined Storage hardware standards.
• Proactively manage the inventory of all Storage supported systems within the asset management database.
• Review and implement new infrastructure components or technologies as instructed by Global Storage Engineering
• Liaising with Central storage group on supporting storage (SAN) changes and outages.
• Liaising with Storage vendors for upgrades pertaining to SAN.

Skills Summary
     
Following skills are desirable in the prospective candidate:-

• Pre-requisite skill - Administration of Cisco SAN switches a must
• Pre-requisite skill - Must be able to use symconfigure changes, zoning and LUN masking
• Well versed with EMC V-Max, DMX4/DMX/3.

     
Well versed with :-

• EMC software suite such as SRDF, PowerPath, Timefinder, Snap, Clone, ECC & ESRS
• Knowledge of third-party technology such as Netapp and tools like Onaro SAN-Screen a definite advantage
• Able to write Perl and shell scripts
• Working knowledge of AIX, Solaris System administration & Virtualization technologies such as VMware
• Basic AIX & VERITAS Volume manager
• Financial industry experience will be an added advantage
• EMC software suite such as SRDF, PowerPath, Timefinder, Snap, Clone, ECC & ESRS
• In addition to the above listed storage skills, candidate with knowledge of Netapp filers and Data Ontap technology will be preferred.      

Storage Platforms and Software

• Support relating to the host operating system from storage perspective.
• Supporting storage based data replication software’s.
• Work with Technical Helpdesk in provisioning a Level 2 support for any related issues.
• Review and update Key Operating Procedures around maintenance and support of Storage solutions / infrastructure.

Other General Tasks

Work in ROTA to support the storage global support (follow the SUN)

• Power outage co-ordination and execution including BCP testing.
• Participate and respond to internal audit. Provide and undertake strategic resolution action plans and updates to global audit co-coordinators.
