The Client

Our client is a leading Chinese commercial bank with 50+ branches in Hong Kong. They enjoy great reputation in the market, and offer a wide range of banking services including consumer banking, corporate banking, wealth management, private banking and provide a wide range of investment products.

Due to the continuous expansion in Hong Kong and Asia, they are looking for a high caliber Legal Counsel / Senior Legal Counsel to join their team.

Responsibilities 

Reporting to the Group Head of Legal, you will be responsible for:

• Support and work in close collaboration with the Group Head of Legal in relation to all provided banking services in Hong Kong
• Draft, review and negotiate various types of commercial documents, contracts and agreements, policy provisions, proposal and brochure, etc
• Assist in updating the internal guidelines and ensure the processes are compliance with regulatory requirements
• Manage legal risk
• Liaise with regulatory bodies and external professionals
• Provide assistance to business units as required and undertake any other ad-hoc legal or compliance-related projects as required

Requirements

• Qualified lawyer in Hong Kong with solid knowledge of the banking industry
• Minimum 5 - 10 years post-qualification experience gained with a reputable law firm or legal department of a sizable bank
• Exposure or experience in banking or dealing with the regulatory bodies would be an advantage
• Excellent interpersonal skill and communication skill
• A good team player with strong managerial & leadership skill
• Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese, proficiency in Putonghua is an advantage
