Job Description
We are now seeking a high caliber candidate to fill the following vacancy in Hong Kong.
Director of Communications / Head of Communications, APAC
The Director of Communications will oversee external communications and media relations for Dow Jones in the APAC region, based in Hong Kong. Reporting to the Vice President, Communications (International), based in London. This is both a strategic and executional role, responsible for driving regional awareness for The Wall Street Journal franchise, Barron’s Asia and Dow Jones’s suite of Professional Information Business (PIB) products, comprising Factiva, Risk & Compliance, Dow Jones Newswires and Dow Jones VentureSource. This position will also lead internal communications locally in Hong Kong and around the wider APAC region as needed.
The Director will also work locally alongside the company’s Managing Director, International, to drive communications in support of WSJ activities around the region.
The Director will develop a close working relationship with the Editor of The Wall Street Journal Asia and be an advisor on a broad range of communications issues, particularly in support of the WSJ’s robust reporting of Asia’s corporates and governments. The Director will support other Dow Jones and Financial News editors and journalists in APAC as and when required.
The successful candidate will be well-versed in the broader digital media and technology landscape as well as B2B communications. There should be a demonstrated record of success in driving product launches, thought leadership initiatives and crisis communication. The Director will manage and have the support of a PR agency.
The Director will provide communications support in the implementation of key events including WSJ CEO Council in Tokyo and WSJD in Hong Kong. The Director will also provide support during regional visits by senior DJ executives.
The Director will be expected to contribute to daily news monitoring efforts.
Requirements:
- Minimum eight to 10 years professional experience in B2B, media and/or mobile/technology, developing and implementing impactful campaigns
- Experience working pan-regionally in Asia
- Strong working knowledge of top-tier conferences and speaking engagements
- Experience in partnering across large, highly collaborative internal teams
- Fluency across social media channels
- Strong writing and editing skills are a must
