Responsibilities

• Help children and adults who have difficulties with communication or with eating, drinking or swallowing;
• Identify the speech and communication difficulty or disorder and assess the cause and nature of the problem;
• Devise & deliver a suitable treatment programme, working on a one-to-one basis or in groups, to enable each of the clients to improve as much as possible;
• Monitor and evaluate the treatment progress for children, youth or adults in Children Homes and Social Welfare Institutions;
• Advise caregivers on implementing a treatment programme;
• Provide training and supervision to partners and staff in Qinghai;
• Coach team members and coordinate service delivery;
• Write confidential case notes and project reports in a timely basis;
• Responsible for project/ service design, monitoring & evaluation;
• Develop collaborative relationship with other service providers such as Civil Affairs Department and Children Homes etc;
• Write project proposal to support fund raising;

Requirements

• Degree or above in Speech Therapy with professional recognition;
• Minimum 3 years working experience in recognized health care institutes for children, adults and disabled people;
• Cultivate and pursue Christian excellence in our work and align with the Christian Vision, Mission and Core Values of Christian Action;
• Must have excellent interpersonal & communication skills, initiative, flexibility, adaptability, patience and teamworking skills;
• Proficiency in written & spoken English, written Chinese and Putonghua is a must;
• Applicant with stronger experience will be considered as Senior Officer or higher level.

Christian Action was established in 1985 as a Hong Kong registered charitable organisation.  Our mission is to serve those who are poor, disadvantaged, marginalised, displaced or abandoned, aiming to give them hope, dignity and self-reliance.  Our service recipients include underprivileged children and youth, the unemployed, low-income families, ethnic minorities, refugees, migrant domestic workers, as well as orphans and abandoned children in Qinghai; we also run social enterprise programmes.  Our services are based on the example of Jesus Christ to serve all people regardless of their age, gender, nationality and religion.
