Job Description

The Job:

  • Reports to Director of Footwear to drive business of footwear and related accessories;
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of footwear production and industry, particularly the athletic shoes category;
  • Working closely with the category manager in developing and leading merchandising strategy to deliver category sales and margin objectives - merchandise mix, brand, pricing, seasonality, channel and re-position the assortment strategy;
  • Ensure all objectives are met, including pricing, sampling, styling details, and on-time delivery;
  • Regular review of pricing and MOQ to maintain competitive pricing while remain flexible;
  • Work closely and effectively with different cross-functional teams internally including Vendor Compliance, Quality Assurance, Product Development, Category Manager and Supply Chain Operations;
  • Maintain smooth relationship with vendors while keep tracking on their performances and results;
  • Source new and compliant suppliers to support the business strategy and challenges to ensure smooth transition to minimize supply downtime;
  • Provide direction to Product partners regarding market opportunities, consumer insights, product assortments and competitive positioning;
  • Communicate effectively with inventory management and Supply Planning team to execute the buy; close monitor of the production schedule and ensure the on-time delivery and fill rate.

 

The Person:

  • 10 years or above experience in footwear merchandising; experience in athletic shoes merchandising is highly preferable;
  • Strong negotiator with a commercial mindset and ability to communicate effective in English with Internal Product Development team at headquarter;
  • Good understanding of footwear manufacturing, material construction, QA standards will be an advantage;
  • Highly organized and self-motivated;
  • Strong problem solving skills with ability to make sound decisions, and yet able to share knowledge and insights to develop the team;
  • Ability to drive innovation and to lead change;
  • Good command of written & spoken English, Mandarin and Cantonese;
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Chinese word processing;
  • Frequent business travels, when required.
