Job Description

POSITION:

T Brand Studio is a fast-growing team of energetic writers, content strategists, videographers, designers and developers creating branded content across all of advertiser verticals of The New York Times’s domestic U.S. and international editions. Our work spans a variety of forms — short- and long-form reported articles, documentary videos, interactive data visualizations, animations, VR and more — and ranges from unbranded to branded.

Based in Hong Kong, the Editor is responsible for the smooth running of the editorial process of T Brand Studio International’s Hong Kong branch – from ideation to execution of Paid Posts and White Label projects – including: writing and editing content for publication; conducting research; brainstorming and drafting pitches for potential projects; proofreading; as well as developing our network of staff and freelance contributors in Hong Kong and the region.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:  

  • Conceive and create high-quality branded content in collaboration with other team members including editors, writers, content strategists, producers and developers, among others.
  • Write and edit primary- and secondary-source reporting and writing for T Brand Studio International projects.
  • Actively participate in regular weekly brainstorm sessions with the teams in London, Paris and when needed – New York.
  • Write forward-thinking branded content concepts at a pre-sale stage for multiple verticals such as luxury goods, consumer, automotive, entertainment, financial services, healthcare, travel and/or technology.   
  • Proofread copy for active Paid Posts, executed by the international T Brand Studio teams in London and Hong Kong.
  • Help develop a network of freelance writers (and/or editors) from around the world with a focus on Hong Kong and South East Asia.
  • Lead client meetings to present editorial findings, content concepts, and works in progress.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA, BS and/or MA, MS in communications or journalism
  • 5+ years of reporting and editing experience in a journalistic role
  • Business proficiency or fluency in Cantonese/Mandarin preferred
  • Preference for business journalists, particularly with beat experience in financial services and/or technology, as well as automotive, consumer, entertainment/media, healthcare, luxury and travel
  • Good knowledge of the branded content landscape
  • Experience with online media, digital editions, social networks and digital trends
  • Demonstrated ability to work face-to-face with clients and agencies
  • Numeracy is a plus, namely the ability to research and assess data to create visualizations, quizzes and other interactive experiences
  • Other preferred skills: office applications (Word, Excel); editorial workflow systems
  • Thick skin and a top-notch sense of humor
  • Avid consumer of media, of all types
