Computer Technician II (Ref. 170000NM) (Closing Date: April 18, 2017)
Applicants should have (i) a Diploma/Certificate in Computer Science/Information Science or relevant disciplines from a recognised university or technical institute; (ii) a positive attitude towards observing disciplinary codes of operations when performing shift duty; (iii) excellent communication and interpersonal skills; and (iv) the ability to communicate in English and Putonghua. At least 1 year’s work experience in network, systems or data-centre operations, and possession of a valid driving licence are preferred. The appointee will be assigned to the Centre’s Operations Team and perform duties in shifts, including beyond office hours, overnight, on weekends and public holidays. Duties include (a) performing infrastructure service desk functions to take care of incident management and request fulfilment; (b) monitoring networks (including campus network and HKIX) and various systems to ensure continuous uptime; (c) performing system alarm monitoring, fault reporting and escalation according to standard operation procedures; (d) performing troubleshooting to resolve incidents according to established guidelines as necessary; (e) performing network and hardware system routine checks; (f) submitting network and system operation tasks according to job schedules; and (g) performing daily operation tasks including but not limited to backup, report generation, cable patching and other network/systems/data-centre housekeeping tasks. Appointment will be made on a 2-year contract with contract-end gratuity, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
