COO – Chief Operations Officer of Chemical Fiber Plant (Zhejiang based)

Our client is a successful and international chemical fiber manufacturer.

Position Profile

The COO is responsible for leading Operations to fulfill customer’s needs at the best level of Quality and Cost, developing the facility and team capabilities under the supervision of General Manager and aligned with the group strategy.

Key Job Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the Operations performance in terms of Quality of products, Customer Service, Cost efficiency and HSE
• Management of the manufacturing unit (production, maintenance/ engineering, quality assurance/ purchasing/ logistics) according to agreed strategy and objectives
• Propose and execute plans with required organization to deliver agreed manufacturing budgets
• Set goals/objectives for key supporting team ensuring successful execution of business plan
• Support General Manager in Sales, Marketing and R&D functions, ensuring customers/ partners satisfaction
• Conduct policies to provide good service/ quality product to customers at competitive cost
• Follow up the evolution of process and technique and establish competitive manufacturing advantage via exemplary manufacturing standards/ lean cost and capital expenditure plans accordingly
• Develop talent pool and Operations team’s competencies
• Develop reliable and effective reporting systems to enable timely upper management decisions
• Represent General Manager when relevant to develop and maintain relationship with governmental, civic and local bodies and fully leverage them for the company’s benefit.
• Comply with Chinese regulations and EHS
• Coordinate within the team the cross-fertilization required to optimize the supply and find best value
• Implement and develop processes to continuously improve workflow, safety and efficiency
• Set up a strong and consistent Quality Management System

Essential Skills:

• A dynamic and energetic professional with minimum 10 years chemical fiber manufacturing and management experience preferably in a senior level manufacturing position
• Bachelor degree with Chemical engineering will be an adavntage
• Strong communication skills toward workers, peers and top management
• Fluent English is essential
• International exposure
• High integrity, ethics and values
• Knowledge of stitch bond and/or needle felt, non woven type of operation an advantage
• Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles
• Understand quality systems such as ISO, Total Quality Management, etc.
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders
• Ability to be based in Zhejiang China and travel abroad on business
