Job Description

PURPOSE:

Be the regional subject matter expert (SME) on Chemical management (MRSL related), working closely with the Regional Division Manager of Chemical Management and Sustainability and different stakeholders, communicate and educate L Brands requirements to facilities to successfully implement in-house chemical management program, and support Product Regulatory on need basis. Act as repository by acquiring latest trends / legislation and coordinating with laboratories.

  

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Drive and coordinate chemical management programs, such as chemical management annual roadshows, to communicate and update the guidelines of L Brands to facilities; and ensure their practices and activities are in compliance with our requirements in Asia.  
  • Perform chemical audits and highlight potential problems or issues of the factories, partner with the facilities to develop ideas and methods for effectively addressing the issues in order to close the Corrective Action Plans (CAPs) subsequently.
  • Act as an advisor to the facilities and provide supporting tools to help them implement in-house chemical management.
  • Keep in pace with the changes of local / regional emerging environmental / sustainability issues and legislations; integrate the latest environmental requirements requested by L Brands and other stakeholders (e.g. ZDHC) to update materials / tools to the respective counterparts, so as to ensure our practices are up to industrial standards and legitimately sound.     
  • Work with facilities (dyeing mills, laundries, printers) to establish water quality standards, monitoring water quality through ongoing testing program; monitored factory wastewater discharge compliance. Leverage industry work on water standards to align brand activity to industry best practices.  
  • Work with cross-functional team, such as Product Regulatory, QA and Raw Material team to establish a responsible chemical management guidance and process, and enable an effective execution in the supply chain to ensure a full compliance on local RSL requirements.
  • Execute RSL validation program to the supply chain through good understanding of the correlation between MRSL and RSL to maintain product compliance.

  

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree or above in Textile Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry or related discipline.
  • Minimum 10-15 years of experiences in textile wet processing in dyeing mills or product stewardship in chemical companies or chemical management in buying offices.  Candidates with less experience will be considered as Manager, Chemical Management.
  • Working experience in textile wet processing mill / chemical company, either in technical / R&D / product stewardship sectors will be an advantage.
  • Technical expertise in textile chemical formulation, textile wet processing and chemical management.
  • Knowledge in ZDHC MRSL, OekoTex Standard 100 and/or associating standards, China Regulatory GB Standards will be necessary.
  • Team player and able to work in a high performing and matrix team.
  • Good analytical and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Able to meet given deadlines through good time management, allocation of priorities and people management
  • Effective problem solving skills, uses rigorous logic and methods for effective solutions
  • Applies prioritization, time management, resource planning and allocation in the execution of multiple projects.
  • Effectively communicates technical topics to various audiences and cross-functional project teams to influence decisions.
  • Willing to travel
  • Good Command of Cantonese, English and Mandarin
