Job Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION/POSITION SUMMARY 

Support and respond to all property and art handling business. Conduct physical handling of property from time of arrival at Christie’s until is sold and released to client/owner or back through the cycle for re-offers.

Closely work with Logistics Coordinator, specialist departments, shipping team, client services department and any related departments to ensure smooth logistics arrangement of our inventory.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS (Duties include but are not limited to the following)

  • Liaise and coordinate with Logistics Coordinator to ensure a smooth logistical arrangement of property
  • Circle count inventory check, 2 to 4 times per year
  • Property receiving, unpacking, taking general condition check and snapshot, labeling and barcoding within 48 hrs upon property arrival
  • Notify relevant manager and Logistics Coordinator of any damages, losses or discrepancies (within 4 hrs)
  • Arrange Transfer of Property throughout Christie’s facilities (on-site/off-site)
  • Troubleshooting, tracking and tracing of missing property
  • Support logistics arrangement for photo shooting
  • Maintain warehouse daily operation and tidiness
  • Lotting up sales property (print lot stickers, placement of lot stickers as directed by dept).
  • Artwork
  • Maintain inventory In/Out record and property handover with client and supplier
  • General artwork packing, framing and restoration arrangement
  • Saleroom and exhibition setups, breakdowns, and viewing support
  • Hand-carry and deliver property which approved by Manager/ Security dept.
  • Communication responsibility between Departments and Logistics Department/ Operations
  • Use of handheld scanner devices and ERM inventory system
  • Support all other logistics functional areas as directed by management.
  • Other duties as assigned by Management/Supervisor

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma (college degree preferred)
  • Minimum of 1 year Art Handling experience. Previous experience in Art, logistics industry and/ or sales supporting function is preferred
  • Possess basic computer skills (MS Office; Outlook, MS Word, Excel)
  • Demonstrates strong communication, organizational skills and time management ability
  • Excellent attention to detail, detail-oriented, proactivity and organizational skills
  • Ability to oral communicate in Mandarin, English, and Cantonese clearly and effectively

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Box , crate, heavy property lifting (typically up to 35 pounds/ 16 Kilograms per piece)
  • Ability to lift up 70 pounds/ 32 Kilograms (average limit of check-in baggage) independently
  • Uncrating / Unpacking/ Bending/ Lifting/ Carrying
  • Extensive walking throughout Christie’s facilities and Exhibition site (300,000+ sq. ft. as well as off-site warehouses)
  • Use of Dock equipment & tools (pallet jacks, crowbars, material handling equipment), Use of Ladder.
  • Ability to Working at height (up to 10 meter platform)
