- Demonstrating an extensive knowledge of both wine in general and the specific wines listed on the restaurant's menu
- Giving advice to guests in pairing the ideal wine with their meal
- Ensuring that the wine sales are maximized and upselling techniques are set in place.
- Co-coordinating special wine tasting events or courses
- Responsible for creation and control of the wine list, beer list and drink list
- Ordering of required wine and beverages
- Being involved in liquor inventory control and cost analysis
- Assisting in wine and bar service training to staff
Job requirements
- Minimum 3 years serving experience in a fine dining service environment
- Proficiency in wine and spirit selection and food pairing,
- Excellent communication to understand and respond to guests' needs & requirement
- Diploma or above in Hotel or Catering Management, or holder of WSET / completion of an accredited sommelier program is required
- Fluency in English and Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin) is a MUST, proficiency in French is an advantage.
