  • Demonstrating an extensive knowledge of both wine in general and the specific wines listed on the restaurant's menu
  • Giving advice to guests in pairing the ideal wine with their meal
  • Ensuring that the wine sales are maximized and upselling techniques are set in place.
  • Co-coordinating special wine tasting events or courses
  • Responsible for creation and control of the wine list, beer list and drink list
  • Ordering of required wine and beverages
  • Being involved in liquor inventory control and cost analysis
  • Assisting in wine and bar service training to staff

 

Job requirements

  • Minimum 3 years serving experience in a fine dining service environment
  • Proficiency in wine and spirit selection and food pairing,
  • Excellent communication to understand and respond to guests' needs & requirement
  • Diploma or above in Hotel or Catering Management, or holder of WSET / completion of an accredited sommelier program is required
  • Fluency in English and Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin) is a MUST, proficiency in French is an advantage.
