• The mission

The retail excellence team mission is to ensure our brands’ activations relate to shoppers in the most disruptive, stimulating and desirable way to maximize footfall and conversion both in and out of stores, driving brand value and commercial growth.

The collaboration of an interdisciplinary team with the right mix of skills (retail design, visual merchandising, training, sourcing, procurement, project management) is vital to the successful execution of our brand image and value objectives.

We work collaboratively with all internal departments as well as retailers, agencies and suppliers to achieve our goals. We aim to be creative, efficient and cost effective, with a strong sense of ethics.

 


• Key purpose

The Retail Design Managers mission is to improve in-store communication & shopper engagement by designing and project managing permanent merchandising and activations spaces for large and medium scale activations. 

• Key responsibilities

Permanent Merchandising is defined by a branded fixture assigned in a permanent location in store, with a tentative lifespan of at least 3 years.
Year on year, about 300 permanent merchandising units are designed, built and installed across GTR, out of which about 200 are implemented in Asia Pacific.
These projects are mostly fittings in new concessions, full store renovations lead by retailer and few renovations of existing spaces.
Because of the brand, traveler and market combination, not all POS are equal. We therefore prioritize investments in full look and have a cost effective visibility solution for secondary locations.
The Retail Design Manager role is to ensure a coherent execution of our brands images across Asia Pacific, in line with GTR guidelines.

What is the role of the Retail Designer on Permanent Merchandising?
o Design large and medium permanent merchandising projects according to GTR guidelines
o Manage agencies and suppliers that supports design work
o Ensure all GTR registered suppliers apply effectively GTR finishing materials guidelines, lighting specifications, fabrication technical details
o Establish cost range estimate for standard fixtures manufacturing (in collaboration with sourcing)
o Project manage large projects from request for proposal to implementation
o Request for proposal and quotation for large project implementation
o Typical product display planogram adaptations for large projects
o Brand messaging integration for large projects
o Visuals and graphics assets for large projects
o Support business units for the planning and implementation of large and medium projects
o Advise business units if any issue occurs developing small (standard guidelines) projects

Activations are defined by a branded space and visibility inside or outside the store, allocated by the retailer for a temporary period.
GTR runs approximately 25 major activation campaigns per year, as well as about 25 secondary tactical activations that require minor merchandising. Each activations in implemented in a several point of sales.
The Retail Designer will primarily focus on the major activations design and implementation, and act as a relay of GTR London based Retail Excellence team, in proximity to the business units, to ensure out of stores, Large and Medium project are perfectly executed, in a coherent way according to GTR toolkits and guidelines.

What is the role of the Retail Designer on Activations?
o Design large and medium activation projects according to GTR guidelines
o Manage agencies and suppliers that supports design work (Except when handled by GTR London)
o Ensure all GTR registered suppliers apply effectively GTR finishing materials guidelines, lighting specifications, fabrication technical details
o Establish cost range estimate for manufacturing (in collaboration with sourcing)
o Project manage out of store and large projects from request for proposal to implementation
o Typical product display planogram adaptations for large projects

• Key relationships

o GTR Retail excellence director to define the schedule of objectives and calendar
o Activation Hub and GTR training manager to ensure merchandising tools convey coherent messaging and experiences are easy to implement
o Activation Hub and GTR sourcing to ensure all agencies and suppliers involved are registered
o External agencies to design, manufacture and implement projects
o Business units marketing to implement projects in market


Profile
 Degree in interior design or related applied art.Strong interest in arts and applied arts. Good aesthetic sensibility
 Comfortable to express ideas quickly with freehand sketches.
 Master Sketchup pro, Autocad, Adobe creative suite and office.
 Good communication and interpersonal skills.
 Fluent English spoken and written, Asian languages is desirable.
 Minimum of 5 years’ experience preferably gained with a mix of creative and operational positions.
 Multiple markets / regional exposure.Frequent travels required.
 Proven experience at designing and developing retail furniture and displays
 Proven project management experience
 FMCG / luxury / retail industry. Experience in Travel Retail would be a plus
