Summary of Position

AMPD Energy Limited is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead the development of new technologies for Li-ion battery-based energy storage system.

You will be involved in all aspects of system design, from R & D of original concept to prototype production, manufacturing, functional and safety test, and design optimisation. You will work closely with both internal project teams and external, third-party suppliers.

You should be motivated, reliable, thorough, and excited about developing new technologies with the potential to dramatically improve global energy distribution and storage. You will be expected to be able to operate with a high degree of autonomy, but be a clear, candid, and effective communicator in both spoken and written English. Finally, you should be able to think scientifically and contribute comprehensively to our team as a technically skeptical but optimistic engineer.

Key Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Four years of experience in electrical / electronic / battery design for bachelor graduates, less experience required for Master graduates
• Knowledge and experience in Battery Management System (BMS)
• Full competency with basic laboratory electrical test equipment.
• Proficiency with industry-standard PCB CAD software (e.g. Altium, Cadence, EAGLE, etc.)
• Experience developing electrical test procedures and/or managing test execution.
• Experience in power electronics or solar cells is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of the chemical, electrical and physical properties of batteries is a plus.
• Existing right to work in Hong Kong is a must

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

You will work with our team to develop new technologies for energy storage systems, and will be responsible for the design of all electrical and electronic subsystems. You will complete feasibility studies of future core energy technologies, develop prototypes, visit and evaluate potential manufacturing partners, work with suppliers to establish product specifications, and complete full laboratory and field validation of our products. You will create and revise engineering documents including laboratory reports, feasibility studies, electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and test procedures. Occasional travel to Mainland China may be required.

Specific duties may include:

• Design and develop electrical components and systems, including (but not limited to): logic and power circuits, printed circuit boards, battery management systems, motor controllers, electrical interfaces, buses, wiring, etc.
• Develop and deploy electronic models, detailed drawings, and analysis required to support the above.
• Take part in the purchasing and manufacturing of owned components and systems with emphasis on quality, reliability, timely delivery, and cost.
• Prepare prototype and component testing procedures according to company objectives and industry standard regulations. Execute tests and present results.
