Job Description
Our client a Storage Vendor is looking for an Onsite Resident Engineer for their banking client.
The Engineer will provide a variety of services to the Customer relating to the administration of the NetApp storage environment including the following:
• Interacting with Customer’s IT engineering and architecture teams to ensure the continuity of solutions within the client data center
• Provide knowledge of using NetApp ONTAP 7-mode and Clustered mode
• Provide knowledge of storage administration and the concepts of file systems, disk partitions, mounts, quotas, mirroring and sizing
• To deliver data migration from ONTAP 7-mode to Clustered mode
• Involve the design of data migration project plan, and work with customer NAS team to execute, manage project
• Integration of NetApp solutions into the Customer’s IT Service Management (“ITSM”) data center services
• Storage efficiency optimization activities such as upgrades, performance tuning, and system audit tasks
• Advising on best practices for improving operational processes within the ITSM Framework
• Configuration of NetApp hardware and software products
• Implementation of backup and restore, disaster recovery, storage consolidation, data protection, storage performance, etc., in accordance with the Customer’s ITSM processes
Requirements:
- Previous experience with a technology vendor, software or Systems Integration Company or an IT Consultancy.
- Advanced Storage and Fabric Management experience
- Network Management experience (understanding of Layer 2 to Layer 4 specifically)
- Operating System Management experience (Windows, UNIX (HPUX, Solaris, Linux varieties) preferred
- Good communication and professional skills
- Familiar with either one of these products:
- NetAPP Systems including NetApp ONTAP 7-mode and clustered mode
- HDS Systems: VPS, USPV, USP, AMS, ShadowImage, TrueCopy, Tuning Manager
- HP Systems: P9500, XP Storage, EVA Storage, Business Copy, Continuous Access
- EMC Systems: DMX, CLARRiiON
- Cisco Systems: MDS SAN switches
- Strong experience with SAN, NAS and other storage products. Knowledge of HDS, EMC and NetApp storage system will be an advantage
