Job Description

Position Summary

 

The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer will be the technical subject matter expert on both cloud and on premise IT infrastructure. The position will be responsible for implementation, administration and monitoring mission critical cloud and on-premises IT platform. This position will report directly to the regional Service Delivery Manager. Ability to work in a team environment is required.

 

 

Primary Duties 

  • Building and monitoring infrastructure to support our Azure/AWS-based Cloud services and infrastructure
  • Creating and utilizing tools to monitor our applications and services in the cloud including system health indicators, trend identification, and anomaly detection
  • Automating system build outs and the application deployment process
  • Act as subject matter expert on Azure/AWS and other cloud providers
  • Provide end-to-end solution expertise to meet the business requirements
  • Provide daily monitoring, management, troubleshooting and issue resolution to systems and services hosted on cloud resources
  • Provide cross training and /or knowledge transfer to colleagues as necessary, particularly on the Azure/AWS platform
  • Proactively enhancing systems, services and hardware monitoring tools to address potential issues
  • Document processes and procedures in managing and Azure/AWS infra making sure best practices are always followed
  • Stay up to date with existing and new cloud services, providing guidance to technical teams as available cloud capabilities evolve
  • Working with design team to help engineer scalable, reliable, and resilient software running in the cloud
  • Analyzing and monitor performance bottlenecks and key metrics to optimize software and system performance
  • Providing analytics and forecasts for cloud capacity, troubleshooting analysis, and uptime

Education/Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

  • Minimum 5 years of infrastructure experience with 3 years hands on experience with Microsoft Azure resources provisioning

  • Expertise in Windows operating systems, Microsoft Active Directory and domains

  • Expertise in virtualization technology

  • Experience with engineering and supporting Hybrid environments

  • Experience with support system monitoring infrastructure

  • Experienced with networking and network/system security

 

Additional Duties 

  • Daily time entry to record billable and non-billable time

  • As developed and coordinated upon request by supervisor

  • Provide on-call support via cell phone and/or pager for after-hours communication/support

  • Take on responsibilities as a backup or alternate for other IT staff

  • Ability to work additional hours as required

  • Periodic travel required, sometimes with little notice

  • Periodic physical labor, which may include moving equipment, etc.
