JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for a maverick and creative talent who wants to shape a new social platform, which will become a point of reference for the design community and for all people who love living in harmony.

For our new online project, you define the editorial line, address its creative direction, develop original content with external contributors and curate the selection of third party materials.

You establish relations with industry leaders for articles and interviews and you bring a wealth of personal connections with other editors, creative directors, influencers, bloggers in the design and, more generally, lifestyle industry.

You are an editor, but also a creative director and a writer with a key talent in spotting what is important for the community and a keen desire to keep our readers interested and engaged.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Defines the editorial line of the social platform according to shared long term strategic objectives.
• Crates new content, edits and proof reads third party materials and moderates any written material or pictures shared on social media.
• Scouts and selects potential contributors to the social platform and establishes strong relations with editors, creative directors, influencers, bloggers.
• Constantly works to improve the appeal of the website, actively works to increase traffic and gives fundamental support to develop appropriate digital marketing campaigns.
• Actively facilitates communication on complementary platforms such as Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram and Tumbler, providing active engagement to the community.
• Request to attends, when necessary, conferences and events.
• Act as in-house spokesperson and represents the social platform in interviews and events as subject-matter expert 

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have experience in launching a new project / new platform, being aware of all complexities which are significant to build a new community. Startup experience considered very advantageous.
• 8+ years’ experience in print and digital media industry in home, design, travel, lifestyle.
• English mother tongue with 3-5 years’ experience in editing.
• Cantonese and Mandarin advantageous, but not a must. 
• Extensive portfolio to demonstrate writing and editorial skills

REQUIREMENTS 

• Solid capability to define strategic plans and follow up with timely implementation.
• Autonomous, independent with strong operational competences.
• Highly curious, with a strong point of view, but capable to listen to different perspective and manage complexities accordingly.
• Must have a very deep aesthetical sense with a fundamental interest for design. Appreciation for fashion and art are considered advantageous.
• Sharp wit, yet highly accessible.
• Great interpersonal skills. Works alone and with others at ease. 
• Excellent at defining and respecting deadlines
• Travel required on request regionally and globally
• Proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc)

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

• Degree holder or equivalent qualification in Communications, Journalism or related disciplines
