Job Description
Sales and Profit
- To achieve the seasonal sales and profit targets based on the seasonal business plan
- To negotiate with suppliers in a tough but fair manner to secure exclusive merchandise/ brands and optimize the profit margin
- To be proactive in understanding the competition, and take action to minimize any loss of Lane Crawford market share
- To monitor closely systems to control sales and stock levels in order to maintain seasonal target and increase the stock turn rate
- To work with the stores to establish a balanced range of merchandise suited to the customer profile of store.
- To work together with marketing to make recommendations for changes and improvements to maximize sales potential and profit within the store
- To determine pricing strategies for products/suppliers based on market reviews, competitor positions, supplier financials, etc.
- To track and evaluate performance of all merchandise and review performance weekly with the General Merchandise Manager and the Department Sales Manager’s in store
- To provide monthly updates to relevant parties on key costs and expenses related to buying
- To ensure that staff are utilising Omni-channel technology to encourage customers to shop on and off line, maximizing sales at every opportunity
Merchandise Management
- To be innovative and able to forecast upcoming trends by reading international magazines and journals and beauty updates
- To be familiar with both local and overseas market situations and alert to trends
- To maintain a leading position in the market of products in its own category
- To ensure timely delivery of merchandise, maintain a balances stock holding and ensure consistent quality and quantity to stores
- To monitor sales and manage the exception rate, taking decisive action to handle any issues
- To monitor the performance of all suppliers, give timely feedback and handle issues related to supply and product quality
- To carry out spot checks in inventory levels in store and work with Department Sales Manager’s on any store operations issues
- To be responsible for the maintenance and control of aged stock
Relationship Management
- To work closely with Brand Creative team to deliver the appropriate brand image to the end customer, through the correct communication channel
- To work closely with vendors/workshop to maintain a timely delivery to stores
- To demonstrate a desire to understand and communicate the latest trends and jewellery fashion to staff
- To manage the business relationship with the vendors taking every opportunity to enhance and strengthen the relationship
- To attend training sessions for all new merchandise/brands
- To provide accurate knowledge and information to sales staff for them to communicate with the customers
- To manage the vendor relationship to ensure that sales staff are trained in product knowledge and visual presentation for vendor products
- To work closely with business process team and vendors to coordinate the consignment/ concession agreement issue
- To fully understand and be able to communicate our Omni-channel business model, ensuring all staff understand the need for a seamless customer experience, on and off line

- To build a personal connection with each team member, taking time to understand them individuals and identify ways to motivate, retain and engage them
