The Role

• Commercial Strategy

The Commercial Manger will be responsible for formulating and implementing a robust long-term commercial strategy for the organization, geared towards funding expansion and building reserves. Working with the Director of Cricket and others, identify different opportunities for revenue generation that are in line with the organisation’s overall strategic plan and values. 

• Commercial Partnerships

Securing long-term commercial partnerships is key to CHK’s future growth. Revenue generation is core, but ideally from partners who share the values of the organization and can help to grow the game in Hong Kong through their own activation of the partnership in Hong Kong, China and across the world.  The International teams (and their respective tournaments) are a major opportunity, but so equally are the development programmes and community initiatives.

• TV & Broadcast Revenue Strategy

As the media landscape transforms in the digital age we need to develop an innovative, future-looking strategy for generating revenue from broadcasting of Hong Kong international matches, major events and other activity. 

• ICC

The ICC are a major stakeholder and funding partner of CHK. Working closely with the Board and Director of Cricket, the Commercial Manager will ensure that Hong Kong is at the forefront of associate cricket development in terms of commercial strategy; working closely with other nations and the ICC itself, learning from others and being a beacon for developing nations.  

• Hong Kong Government

As with the ICC, the Hong Kong Government is a major stakeholder and partner for the growth of cricket in the SAR. Working closely with the Director of Cricket, General Manager and the Board, the Commercial Manager will be central to ensuring that CHK is seen as a leader amongst Hong Kong NSA’s when it comes to managing its commercial well-being.

The Candidate

• Proven commercial leader with solid track record of driving growth and delivering new revenue streams.
• A good conceptual understanding of the key opportunities in the domestic and international sports markets. An understanding of the Hong Kong market as well as a more global perspective would be an advantage.
• A driven individual able to identify strategic opportunities for revenue growth. Importantly, the ability to sell-in such opportunities to other stakeholders as well as successfully executing them.
• A good understanding of both private sector and public sector decision-making for funding programmes and the ability to formulate appropriate pitches and proposals.
• Highly organized and energetic with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Overall performance will be evaluated against an agreed set of KPIs. 
• Candidate should hold at least a Diploma from a registered post secondary college issued after the date of its registration/an accredited Associate Degree from a Hong Kong tertiary institution/a Higher Diploma from a polytechnic university or polytechnic in Hong Kong or Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education or equivalent
• Immediately available is preferred

Cricket has been played in Hong Kong for 174 years. Cricket Hong Kong is the National Sport Association for cricket in Hong Kong. Our mission is to promote, expand and develop the sport of cricket in Hong Kong, improving standards in all sectors of the game (quality of play, facilities, administration, coaching) and increasing the participants of all sectors of the local community in cricket.
