Job Description

The “Trade Lane Manager” (TLM) is a commercial functional leadership role, the purpose of which is to develop and collaboratively drive the regional or country commercial trade lane strategy to deliver the agreed result for those trade lanes.

Responsibilities:

Geographic scope: France, Iberia and Nordics

 Trade Lane Strategy development

  • Design, development and deployment of regional / country commercial trade lane strategy, supporting commercial strategic direction and contribution from each customer segment to maximize overall profitability.
  • Establishing bilateral agreements with trade lane partner countries, that ensures joint focus, way of working and commitment of resources to drive agreed trade lane volumes, through effective and proactive stakeholder management.
  • Design and development of standardized trade lane products including expansion of product/mode suite as well as ownership of the dynamic pricing process as well as close collaboration with Route management to execute.
  • Driving role in imbedding and living the Premier sales methodology within the organization once the initial roll-out has been conducted.

 Trade Lane Program development / deployment 

  • Translation of trade lane strategy into programs and action plans that integrate with Annual Operating Plans and are communicated and cascaded into team members’ objectives and KPI’s.
  • Collaborating with trade lane partner countries, route management and regional/global resources to ensure products on each trade lane are initially competitive, and thereafter supported by robust Unique Selling Propositions, with quality control and continuous improvements towards the goal of sustaining a leadership position in the market for each selected trade lane.

Trade Land Business Development & Support

  • Ensuring that each trade lane has a robust sales pipeline that supports volume goals in each of the customer segments as well as active engagement in the targeting and advanced planning of key cusonters and tender planning.
  • Serve as the trade lane Subject Matter Expert and support development through trade lane training efforts and personal engagement and coaching where relevant to support knowledge sharing and front-line education.
  • Act as a point of escalation for commercial team members for issue resolution.

Performance Management

  • Ensuring that Trade Lane performance is regularly and clearly reported against targets.
  • Ensuring that effective Performance Management practice is adopted to constantly provide cross functional and commerncial stakeholders with overview and feedback of trade lane program performance, facilitating performance review and action planning. 

Requirements: 

  • 8 years experience within the forwarding industry.
  • Proven track record of securing commercial results in a sizeable commercial organization, ideally with international working experience.
  • Proven track record in an international matrix, multi cultural organization.
  • Deatiled, current and specific market, product, competitor and customer knowledge, correlative to selected tradelanes.
  • Proven track record of developing and managing customers at the strategic and/or key account level, either personally of through collaboration ina trade lane context.
  • Strong communication, influencing and presentation skills, compellingly persuasive and confident.
  • Fluency in English and Chinese.
