The purchasing lead specializes component commodities and is responsible for liaison between engineering, suppliers and purchasing. As such, he/she is responsible for sourcing and developing a panel of best-in-class key component suppliers to meet Pelco’s growth requirements, sourcing and industrial transfers.

The purchasing lead is responsible for managing and supporting the best competitive advantage for the Pelco business through agile and component sourcing strategies focused on customer and value creation, through creative approach and flawless execution – and is recognized as a purchasing expert.

This is an individual contributor position, reporting to the Sr. Purchasing manager. The position is in either Hong Kong or Shanghai.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure a safe and environmentally friendly work environment for team members.
• Be the technology export and supplier leader for the assigned commodities.
• Develop and execute commodity strategies for Pelco business.
• Negotiate, optimize and reduce the total cost to ensure best competitiveness from day 1 through end-of-life.
• Drive contract negotiation and finalization with suppliers. Set up contract with legal department.
• Identify gaps in terms of suppliers between needs and reality and conduct sourcing activities to drive and keep the best-in class supplier panel and sourcing strategy.
• Align offer creation process sourcing target with the video purchasing strategy, focusing on strategic component suppliers.
• Push co-development with suppliers and early supplier involvement, bring supplier market view to projects.
• Lead and drive productivity Quality Value Extraction (QVE) and Change of Supplier (COS) through suppliers andwith support from internal resources.
• Lead and drive supplier evaluation and development.
• Identify new technologies required for new designs. Organize Roadmap reviews with suppliers and Engineering.
• Understand product design/function to guide design options to best available supplier.
• Provide local market intelligence and align with project requirements to build efficient sourcing strategies.
• Establish, build, and maintain relationships with all key suppliers.
• Manage EOL or Change Request Component process and activities

 Requirements

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related fields.
• A minimum of six years’ experience in global strategic sourcing, purchasing, and project management.
• Experience in component sourcing.
• Project purchasing and/or research and development experience, a plus.
• Demonstrated strong analytical skills.
• strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills in a high-volume work environment.
• Sales and operations planning experience, a plus.
• The ability to travel both domestic and international, as needed.
• Greater than three years’ experience in similar role, preferably in video surveillance, a plus.
• Understand video surveillance product and solutions offerings, a plus.
• Fluent in English (and Chinese, a plus), both written and spoken.
• Capability of handling multiple and conflicting priorities and effectively prioritize tasks in a fast-paced work environment
• Worked in a global manufacturing environment.
• Experience using Microsoft Office skills: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project, Outlook.
• At ease in functional reporting (doted / dual line reporting) as well as hierarchical mode (direct / solid line) in large matrix organizations.
