Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Chef to head and manage two kitchens - Grassroots Pantry (our main, boutique restaurant) and Prune Deli & Workshop (a casual, community cafe, workshop, & deli). The Head Chef would work closely with Grassroots Pantry's Chef/Director Peggy Chan. S/he would be responsible for the management and execution of menus, including private events and catering menus, as well as management of the kitchen staff (staff schedule, hygiene & stewarding standards, etc.).

Ideally, the candidate would be an enthusiastic, positive individual who is passionate about cooking and hospitality as well as whole, nutritious, locally-sourced food. The candidate would have integrity, a strong work ethic, and great communication skills and is a team player who can multi-task and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.

We prefer candidates with at least 3 to 5 years of experience in a professional kitchen and preferably with management/leadership experience.
