The primary responsibility of the cost engineer will be to focus on delivering cost savings on all existing and new products. This will be accomplished by performing VAVE exercises on all of HZ existing products, and by taking cost out of supplier processes. The cost engineer will be responsible for achieving annual cost saving targets. This position will work closely with other Managers in efforts to establish and maintain a standardized pricing model. The position will also interact with Engineering to initiate ideas to expedite and solve issues during NPD process. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and will be able to easily build relationships with various suppliers.


Duties and Responsibilities

1. Drive cost reduction VAVE exercise on all existing supplier products and processes.
2. Assist HK sourcing in finding low cost suppliers that can meet HZ performance and quality standards.
3. Monitor product cost from concept development stage with Sourcing Managers.
4. Perform total cost analysis to drive the best sourcing scenarios for new products.
5. Work with Product Managers, Sourcing Managers and other Engineers to drive a world class VAVE and cost reduction roadmap.
6. Partner with suppliers to provide a variety of manufacturing solutions.
7. Research and analyze Products design proposals, specifications and manuals to determine feasibility of design for manufacturability and cost.
8. Suggest and recommend design improvement and modification to optimize profit margin.
9. Take direction regarding priorities and workload from the Director, Sourcing.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree required; highly prefer mechanical engineering background.
2. Minimum 2-4 years of engineering or finance in a manufacturing environment required. Experience include global supply chain knowledge as well as plastics and electronics quoting and modeling will be an advantage.
3. Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
4. Good interpersonal and communication skills in both Mandarin and English.
