Job Description

INDUSTRIAL CENTRE

Technical Officer(Ref. 17072706-E2)

Duties

The appointee will join the Building Services, Construction and Safety Stream and be required to:

(a) undertake hands-on learning and teaching activities at degree and sub-degree levels including student projects;

(b) assist in organizing and planning of placements, internship and other learning enrichment activities;                  

(c) assist in teaching and learning programme planning, design and administration, as well as preparation of hands-on learning, student projects and teaching materials;

(d) assist in R&D and consultancy activities;

(e) maintain workshop equipment and machines in good condition; and

(f) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director, Industrial Centre or his delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a) have a recognized degree in Electrical, Building Services, Safety or a related discipline plus not less than three years of relevant post-qualification experience, preferably in building services related work;

(b) be a registered electrical worker of Grade A;

(c) have good computer literacy;

(d) have good teaching experience; and

(e) have good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese.

Preference will be given to those who are Registered Safety Officer (RSO).  Applicants with less academic qualification but with solid experience in site work and/or hands-on learning activities in tertiary education institutions will also be considered.  Shortlisted candidates may be invited to attend a trade test on their practical skills proficiency.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.  Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.  Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
