Assistant Technical Officer (Ref. 17072708-E)

Duties

The appointee will be required to:

(a) look after the daily operations and management of the Soil Mechanics Laboratory;

(b) assist in conducting soil mechanics laboratory sessions for undergraduate students;

(c) provide technical support to student projects and research projects in soil mechanics, geotechnical engineering and other areas of civil engineering;

(d) operate various apparatuses/systems/instruments in the Soil Mechanics Laboratory;

(e) liaise with other University departments and external organizations for the management of the Soil Mechanics Laboratory; and

(f) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department or his/her delegates.


Qualifications
 
Applicants should:

(a) have a higher diploma or higher certificate either in Civil Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related disciplines, or a Certificate for Laboratory Technicians, with at least four years’ relevant post-qualification experience OR a recognised degree in the said disciplines; and

(b) be fluent in Cantonese and English, with fluency in Putonghua being an advantage.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service
 
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement. Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
