Job Description

The Requirements are:-

  • Provide technical evaluation and expertise for apparel merchandise in terms of design, size specification, construction and manufacture to achieve appropriate fit, quality and style interpretation that helps to enhance customer satisfaction and reduce returns.
  • Evaluates supplier's sample for fit and construction details, as required.  Provide expert guidance for pattern fit and balance, workmanship and grading, as required, for assigned apparel lines
  • Assigns apparel specifications and standards required to reflect optimum fit, construction and current styling relative to private brand strategies by developing written specifications in flex system
  • Provide expert advice to IBO merchants, suppliers and US counterparts, as requested, regarding costs, alternate methods of garment construction, and yardage yield
  • Assist Product Development management with the development of product package on private label merchandise including specification, grade rules, detailed drawing of garment, and minimum construction specification that create an integrated prototype set of product "blueprints" based on design concepts
  • Study and apply knowledge of the lastest techniques and technological advances in equipment and manufacturing techniques, fabric textures and construction, and findings (component parts) to the garment evaluation process
  • Provide technical evaluation relative to size, fit and constriction for comparison merchandise programs, when required, and use Catalog returns information and apparel sizing survey data to determine appropriate sizing, quality, and fit problem resolution
  • Manage garment evaluation training and garment preparation processes, as required and provide on-going technical education (formal to informal) to internal associates and suppliers
  • Diploma or Degree holder in Fashion Design or Merchandising or related disciplines
  • 6 years' experience in pattern making and grading, or its equivalent
  • Must be knowledgeable of apparel construction and factory workflow/manufacturing techniques/process
  • Strong technical background
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese
  • Critical mind, problem solver and marketing sense
  • Candidate with more experience will be considered for Senior Technical Designer
  • IMMEDIATE AVAILABLE is highly preferred
