UNIVERSITY RESEARCH FACILITY IN LIFE SCIENCES

Scientific Officer (Ref. 17073102-IE)

Duties                                           

The appointee will be required to:

a) supervise, maintain and uphold the smooth running of research facilities;

b) carry out specialized services in life sciences research;

c) train students and research personnel in the operation of instruments;

d) operate and maintain website(s) and the booking system; and

e) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of University Research Facility in Life Sciences or his delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should:

a) have a doctoral degree in life sciences or related disciplines;

b) have five years’ post-qualification experience, including at least three years’ relevant experience in mass spectrometry, confocal and/or super-resolution microscopy, imaging, cell biology, molecular biology, genomics, proteomics or metabolomics;

c) have experience in providing assistance to research in an area related to life sciences;

d) be able to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English and Chinese, with fluency in Putonghua being an advantage; and

e) have strong analytical skills, good interpersonal and communication skills.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.  Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.  Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
