Job Description

Role Summary

Develop component business in APAC by planning & implementing component capability build up projects in cooperation with key customers. Role is responsible for planning as well as implementing these projects.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Build relationships and lead development of component repair shops at airline customers as part of LHT’s JCS (Joint Component Support) program
  • Independently manage & implement assigned JCS projects in a time and cost efficient manner and ensure customer satisfaction by successful implementation and ramp up
  • Interface with internal and external sources to plan and implement large scale, high-invest, projects in cooperation with LHT and customers, including business plans, physical plans, technologies to be implemented, timelines, as well as lead realization of such projects
  • Will be responsible for hands-on implementation, reading and interpreting technical documentation, gathering technical input from internal sources, generate piece parts lists, tool & equipment, plan and coordinate training activities
  • Advise customer service and sales in questions of customer engineering and technical product and production aspects (complex / technology-transnational) and introduce them into processes and lead them professionally
  • Conduct Engineering meetings and technical presentations, as well as the release of supplements ("green pages") for customers and foreign authorities
  • Explain Lufthansa practices towards external customers (authority approvals, Rogue Unit process, certifications & approvals, modification process, etc)
  • Initiate enhancements of JCS workshop templates as well as other tools used during consulting projects
  • Obtain customer feedback regularly and identify systematic process weaknesses.
  • Interface to Customer Engineering teams in Hamburg, Shenzhen, and Tulsa with frequent interaction within this matrix organization
  • Coordinate regularly with global JCS team, LHT/LTS/LTCS Quality Department, Component Engineering, Process Team, and others
  • Evaluate technical trends in the MRO market (such as documentation standards, etc.) and derive customer requirements and bring insights / feedback into the organization
  • Perform special tasks, participate in projects or lead them.

Requirements (educational and employment background, skills, personality)

  • Significant, multi-year experience in leading component shops and/or building component repair capabilities
  • Project manager/lead with significant experience in investment projects.
  • Experience in managing people and diverse teams is a plus, must manage many stakeholders internally and externally
  • University or technical college degree in Engineering, Aircraft Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • Willingness to travel extensively
  • 5 to 7 years of professional experience in the field of component overhauls, as well as additional qualifications as design / verification engineer within the development company (e.g. EASA 21J)
  • Good knowledge of the market environment, competitors, potential customers and their needs
  • Fluent in English
  • Knowledge of Chinese (Mandarin, Cantonese) or other Asian languages (e.g. Korean, Japanese)
  • Good computer skills (MS-Office, SAP)
